Milwaukee’s Seth Foldy Named Wisconsin’s Chief Doctor

The Doyle administration has named Dr. Seth Foldy the state government’s chief doctor. This is an excellent appointment; we served together in the administration of former Milwaukee Mayor John O. Norquist, and I can say with total assurance that Dr. Foldy is a true believer in public health. And is a genuine practitioner in proactive parternships between people and agencies in health care policy-making and provision.

The Government Accountability Board is putting together a new web site and apparently the company doing the work used an image of Minneapolis in the header of the web site instead of Madison. The Journal Sentinel has more details… After reading the brief piece, a few things immediately caught my attention beyond the somewhat trite story about the wrong city skyline image being used on the website of a State web site. First, the fact that we as taxpayers are paying a million dollars for a we

Christmas, Like Other Things, Is For Children

I made some bad choices during the planning process for the Christmas trip I’m about to wrap up. For example, I only brought one cd for two (2) six-hour car rides between Milwaukee and St. Louis. Even worse, it was a Christmas CD. Still even more worse, I only like about five (5) of the songs. The silver lining? Rick Sincere News and Thoughts: Christmas in Milwaukee - 1959 and …

It was during one of those deliveries when, at age 7 and sitting in the back seat, I read an article in The Milwaukee Journal that explained the origins of Santa Claus. It opened my eyes but I didn’t let on for a while, perhaps thinking …

O Little Town of Butler

1) As I am hasting to bring him laud this season, I am reminded of all sorts of boring things that have no business on a blog. I thought of something today that was interesting, then lost it in the void that is my old-man brain. I tell you this because I’m being honest, and if Christmas is about one thing, it’s about honesty. Or maybe I’m thinking of Abe Lincoln. We lie to our kids about Santa Claus, for no real reason except everybody else does. Oh, well…I’m sure they will forgive us. You. 2)
