According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, our fair state has hired a Connecticut Web design firm to design the website for our Campaign Finance Information System. We are reportedly paying them the proverbial “one million dollars.” For me, a Wisconsin-based Web designer, that would work out to more than eight man-years, so it’s very encouraging to know there is Web design work out there. So far, this December is shaping up to be a lot like the last one. The National Weather Service in Milwaukee has just issued a Winter Storm Watch for Monday evening and all through Tuesday: Snow accumulations of 6 to 12 inches are possible across southern Wisconsin Monday night through Tuesday night as strengthening low pressure passes south of the state. One worry (a minor one) is that if I loose my job in Drive Past, Wisconsin [1] I’d have to acquire a job in Green Bay (long drive) or Milwaukee, which would require me to move. I like it here. Plus I’d have to deal with rush hour again and I doubt I’ll be able to find a house two miles from my employer there.
