Betty Brinn Children’s Museum in Milwaukee, WI

The Betty Brinn Children’s Museum is a wonderful museum at the end of Wisconsin Avenue overlooking the Milwaukee Art Museum and Lake Michigan. The space is big enough that there is room for the kids to play and climb and not have to wait in a line. The toddler area is enclosed and separate from the rest of the exhibits for the older kids so you don’t have to worry about the toddlers accidentally getting knocked over. There is parking underneath the museum so no need to go out into the elements

Accepted into Show

I received a letter yesterday that said I was accepted into the Midwest Season Prospectus show at the Center for the Visual Arts in Wausau. Stairs, a new photo that I took for my photo class to show them some digital applications, was the accepted piece. If you’re from the Milwaukee area, you probably know where I shot this photo. It is a good example of how I show movement and textures in my photos. I knew right away it was a strong image. Anyway, the show opens in Wausau Friday, Jan. 16 and

Evadgelization

Evadgelization Our Archdiocese of Milwaukee’s Living Our Faith evangelization initiative has published an eight page supplement to today’s Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. It describes itself as a special edition of the Milwaukee Catholic Herald. It also seems to be the December 2008 Living Our Faith newsletter. And it’s “Volume 1, Number 1″, so perhaps we’ll see in in the morning paper again. In addition to its articles, there are quite a few ads, which presumably covered at least some of the co

Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis draws 1,000

5K event included a run and fun walk. (Photos by Julie A. Jacob) By Julie A Jacob The overcast December sky and soft snowfall did not faze the thousand or so people who gathered at Racine Lutheran High School on Saturday for the 12th annual Racine Jingle Bell 5K Run/Walk for Arthritis. The walkers and runners, many dressed in festive holiday clothing including antler hats, red bows and, yes, jingle bells, participated in the race around Island Park to help raise money for the Arthritis Found

my husband is just the sweetest. since i was feeling way homesick he bought me a ticket to go to wisconsin for halloween weekend. i missed scott’s guts like crazy, but it was SO, SO, SO good to see my parents. i was able to sleep in and get spoiled, go shopping, take in the milwaukee bucks’ home opener, get a pedicure, see some friends, have my own mini-thanksgiving, and most importantly hang out with my parents and max. all in all it was a great weekend and i am counting down until i get to go
